How your money is held

Restricted means restricted.

A gift given for one thing is spent on that thing. This is the whole of our fund policy, and it is short on purpose.

One

Named purpose

Money given for the library, a child's sponsorship, the ARISE movement or any named project is held under its own head of account and reported separately. It is not swept into general funds at year end.

Two

Carried forward

If a project is delayed, the money waits. If a project cannot proceed at all, we write to the donor and ask what they would like done. We do not quietly repurpose restricted gifts.

Three

Corpus is untouchable

Corpus gifts are accepted only with the donor's written direction, invested only in the modes permitted under Section 11(5) of the Income-tax Act, and never drawn down to cover an operating shortfall.

Four

No blending with the company

Rebuild India Medical Academy Pvt Ltd is a separate for-profit company. No donation to the Foundation reaches it, and its revenues are not reported as charitable activity.

Five

No foreign contribution

The Foundation does not hold FCRA registration. We therefore cannot accept money from foreign sources, including from foreign citizens and OCI holders, and we decline it when it is offered.

Six

Your details stay ours

Donor data is used to issue receipts and to write to you about the work. It is never sold, rented or shared. Ask us to erase it and we will, subject to the records the Income-tax Act requires us to keep.

Commitments

What we will not do.

  • We will not claim an outcome we cannot evidence. If something on this site turns out to be wrong, we correct it and say that we did.
  • We will not photograph or name a child in a way that would embarrass them as an adult.
  • We will not accept money that would compromise what the school teaches or whom it admits.
  • We will not accept foreign contribution while we do not hold FCRA registration.
  • We will not sell, rent or share your details, and we will not send you a monthly begging letter.
  • We will not pursue an unpaid pledge.
  • We will not describe the for-profit medical academy's work as charitable activity of the Foundation.

Found something that does not add up?

Tell us. Write to info@rebuildindia.org.in and mark it for the Secretary. We would far rather be corrected by you than defended by ourselves.
